Journal 29 Apr. Hopland Exp. Station, Mendocino Co., Calif. Collected 1 Contra Saward caught a Rainbow Trout 24 inches long in a small pool in stream at Hopland. Given to Al Murphy. 5 May MVZ - A Mr. Shelton came in. He was one of the old timers of the museum in the days of Grinnell, J. Ripon, T. Stoner, etc. Ochotona princeps sheltoni was named for him by Grinnell. 20 May Martinez Area, Tilden Park Purple Finch, Am. Goldfinch House Finch, Say Sparrow Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Plain Titmouse, Cal. Jay Stellar Jay, Pygmy Black-Headed Grosbeak Pileated Woodpecker. Spotted Towhee Cowbird cal. Junail Chipping Sparrow Cassin's Bashed Thrush Mourning Dove, Bush-tit Red-Tailed Hawk, Redwing, Orange-Crowned Warbler, Vea-tit Cedar Warbling Yellow Warbler, Butterfly Oriole OK. Olive-sided Flycatcher, a pleasant 1 1/2 hr walk on the trail around Jewel Lake. 28 May Mt. Diablo Contra Costa Co., Calif. Solar Loxuli Bunting. Picked up Cistellus leucogenys DBR 4 approx 2 3 mi. below summit, Elv. about 2600 +/- ft, Mileage on top 10401
