2 March. UCC Campus, Berkeley Left home 0715 came by way of Fulton. A lot of shrubbery cut along lower part atd. Field or Bennett. Could not find White Crowns I spotted them Wtn. Till about 9:00 looked for and saw White Grouse and Song Sparrows around campus.
8 March. A lot of thunders today, both Hermit
and Rufous-back. Top Sparrow singing between LSB & Calif. Hall. at least 2 morning
chirper singing. House finches numerous.
Left home 0640, am. Vhrs, 0715, watched larks until 0745-8:00.
9 March Left house about 0615, Pelica singing today, second time I've heard them. First time was 2 days ago, Counted 4 song sparrows between home & campus, along Fulton. Very overcast this morning (not light very) yet.
Watched White Crowns along Bennett until
nearby7:00 Large number of Pelica Geela,
Naswigo, Hermit Thrushes feeding on berries along Eshleman Rd., East Admin. Bldg. Observed Song and White Crowned Sparrows on campus until 9:00.
10 Mar. Pacific Coast San Mateo Co. Evol. 125C Field trip. Stopped several points. Saw many flowering plants. Killdeer nest (abandoned)? at 3rd stop. Bench War, 2 yr. Bill, Sparrow Hawk at 2nd stop. (See Evol. trip notes.) Saw Surf Scoter while eating lunch at Montana. Warm & bright in AM, overcast, windy & cool in P.M. Into a few W Meadowlarks in P.M. Also saw Cetti's Hills,
