Banks 1956 Journal 18. 16. At least 3 Hermit Thrushes by lldg. E of Eng. Bldgs (ME, Bldg., SE Corner) large flock Oregon Juncos, number of Robin's too around ldd. 0900 Pm. Calf Temp rising say Sparrows normal perch in front of Agri. Bldgs. Large flock of Oregon Junco's + sparrows feeding nearly on lawn. 24 Feb U.C. Campus, Berkeley. Cold today, after 5 days of rain. Bright and warm in the sun. Song Sparrows and White Crown seen scarce not singing much. Robin's very plentiful, Brown Towhee + Oregon Juncos out in full force. Stellar's and Calf. Jays seen, as well as House Finches. Out for about 1 1/2 hr., from 0715 to 0845. 26 Feb. A very bright sunny day. Collected a tree (Acacia? Legumin) on campus #21. Ste lunch at noon by San Pablo Res., went up to area of Ecul. Field Trip. While eating saw Red Tailed Hawk, Sparrow Hawk & Guts, Morning Dove. Later collected Dentaria integrifolia; Ribes Sanguineum. Turned over logs, got several salamanders, unknown eggs. (2 or 3) While collecting plants + looking over area, saw Red Tailed Hawk, Varied Thrush Brown Towhee, Spotted Towhee, Pocket Robin's heard White Crowned Sparrow. Home about 4:30pm.
