Banks 1956 Journal Hummingbird [illegible] was sitting in same perch tree as last Mon. (Feb. 13). Heard it chipping also at SW corner Wheeler, where it had gone once last Mon. 0805 Another Hummingbird S of DecArt Bldg. 0815 Song Sparrow singing in low bushes along stream toward (N) of DecArt, SE. of Union. First 3 notes of song seemed to come from somewhere other than the last part, ventiloquial effect. After gave a trill only, or a trill preceded by a chip. Another song sparrow sang a few times closer to Union. First bird moved; heard trill to S. side Union. Spotted Towhee, Oregon Junco, Robin and Varied Thrush in same area Maybe two of Song Sparrows very close together here. 0835 Faint beginnings of song sparrow song in rear (NE) Faculty Club. Later one sang a few times. In a few minutes are sang a few times along stream E. of Fac.Bldg. 0840 Song Sparrow singing from ground NE corner Physics Bldg., S. of Anthro. Museum. Small clump of bushes here, does not offer much ground nesting cover. Only saw 1 bird!
