uld, Steven J. 1965 20 June Llemi. N.W. Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico (4:06PM-4:45PM) Made 2 stops to collect insects on plants growing near on roadside. At each stop collected for ~ 100yds. out both sides of road. Surrounding area low hills, sparse vegetation, agricultural; dominant wild plant away from roadside = woody spiny leguminosae. At 1st stop made general collection of conspicuous forms; w/out specific notice taken of most plant but majority of collecting done off of SJA Bot.#3 (______________), herbaceous plant to 2meters high w/ lg. entire bright-green lvs. [particularly attracted Chrysomelids, Coccinellids & Lygaeids]; SJA Bot.#5, a/x white flowered Asclepiadaceae w/ inflorescence - Zinnia acrad. to ~18" high. A 2nd stop was made ~500yds. down the road. Stage concentrated on SJA Bot.#5 (______________) while worked on a purple flowered Solanaceae w/ erect yellow flowers, ~12"high (SJA Bot.#4, ___________________________) Of all of the insects collected on the day trip, only four five species had pollen sacs adhering to their legs; a lg. Sphecid wasp w/ 2 bright orange abdominal segments had about 20 pollen sacs stuck to legs & abdominal hair on each of 4 specimens collected; one of 2 specimens of a lg. metallic blue Pepsis impendens (Pompilid) had 10 pollen sacs on 4 front legs;
