Arnold, Steven. 1945 15 June Widena Canyon, Santa Rita Mtns., Pima-Santa Cruz Cos., Arizona Pima Co. Left camp ~6:30Am to get in a 3rd group of traps. Selected a site on a stream margin and west facing hill slope just north of the (see map) Williams household. Soil was sandy-silt w/ ever-present boulders. Leaf litter ~ 2cm thick near stream margin. Hill side very rocky + grass covered. Site ele. ~5,000 ft. near mouth of Widena Canyon. Prious (?) larvae (~4cm.) found while digging; 25cm down in hollowed out root. Set 6 traps. About 9:30Am left for Tucson + truck repairs (burning oil like a fire!) ♂ Pyrroluxia (Pyrroluxia sinuata) flew across road + into mesquite thicket ~7mi. NW mouth of Widena Canyon. Got oil, STP + did shopping in Tucson; left for El Paso ~1:30PM.
