J.D. Anderson 1957 Journal Oct. 13 Valencia Canyon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. The ridge road (Soma Bricks??) which runs along top of the hill. Turned loose dug in little bird again near [illegible]. Finished this at 5 pm, then ate supper returned at 6. Dark lost some light still in sky. Worked Bonita Rd for salamanders reserving Coleman lantern. No Amblystoma, Best saw 8 Batrachoseps (2 ground & 4, 2 small juven. & 4 ??). Walked upper road and found & worked 5 a.m. stream (4???, 1 ?). Ground moist, sky clear, no rain since 2 pm. Saw 3 sub-adult Ensatina. Finished here at 9 pm, intended to drive to Jade Cove Beach area but had car trouble. Did not get going again until ~~after~~ after 10 pm. Since it had been long day & Monday is work day we drove home. Left Santa Cruz at 10:30, arrive home 12:20. Note omitted. Trevicha granulosa DAR 1 sp. N. Soquel, Santa Cruz Co. 10 am. Raining hard.
