J.D. Anderson 1957 Journal Oct. 13 Valencia Lagoon, Bird del Mar, Santa Ana Co., Calif. Sunbelt stream cutting along its west side. Both Bonita + Upper road have many large puddles - some 5-10 yds wide or them. Still raining hard. Turned boards + litter - lost my progress. 1 pm - ate in cafe about 2 mi W of Valencia. Proprietor - Boney Neal - said it had been raining steadily since mid-day on Thursday Oct 10. The ealier rainstorm did not reach here with force - only scattered showers - "not enough to stop out door construction work". After lunch we drove to "Sulphur Beach" locality. No standing water here at all. Roads very wet - but it stopped raining at about 1:40 pm (PST) worked willow area here. Quite wet - but as at Valencia, dry under most logs + boards. As we left this place - partly chased by several unruly cows + 1 mostly looking Bull, we found 1 Ambystoma tigrinum on the road immediately adjacent to pond. Am. richieved about 55 mm S.V. Killed last night - most likely. Drove most of roads in this region, into Watson- ville + back by way of Sunset Beach Park. Hydra regilla seizing in ponds here. Lot of water in ponds. Must bee checked for either or both Ambystoma. Ponds between high bluff + beach dunes - so salamanders may not use it. Drove back to Valencia + went up to
