Ambystoma tigrinum
Apr. 14 Ellicott, 1.5 mi S E Jalbrun, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
1 adult (sex?) found DOR on San Andreas Rd.
mi. by road from Valencia Tazon, a large pond less than 1 mi. from DOR specimen. Country
is flat, forming & grazing land between hills & the sea.
about 1 mi. directly west in sea. Native vegetation to
the west is coastal sage & lupine formation. To the
east about 2 miles are oak covered hills. S & W
aspect of hills are grassy & open whereas N & some
E. facing slopes are covered & dense oak woods
( Q. macrophyllum ? ) This flat country is
much like the tigrinum locality near Walnut
creek in the Bay area.
Aug 22. 1.5 mi S E Jalbrun Beach Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
Pond now completely dry. Dried up sometime
between 1 August & 22 August. Transforming
Hyla regilla & Rana aurora all over the
place. Thorough check made to Ambystoma
with no luck at all.
