Anderson 1958 Ensatina eschscholtzii Dec 27 Valencia Lagoon, Hotel Mar, Santa Cruz Co, Calif 30 specimens seen on sandy road starting the edge of the pond area & running thru the oak woods. 10 of these collected. Walked the roads between 6:15 pm & 8:05 pm with a Coleman lantern. Cl temp of 2 collected specimens 7.8°C & 9.6°C. Air temp '1/2" above road 8.2°C. Almost all of the ensatines were very thin. Skins [illegible] were moist & appeared in good shape so apparently the rain of Dec 26 have helped them in this respect. 1 specimen was taken in can trap #2 at 3 pm, probably dropped in during the rain last night.
