J.D. Anderson 1959 Amblyomma m. croceum Jan. 5 Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. Collected a total of 19 croceum by walking around Dr. between 5:30 & 6:55 pm & again between 9:45 & 10:30 pm. Coll made up of 2 juveniles, 2 ♀♀ + 15 ♂♂, all but 1 juv. were moving from the woods towards the pond. David had all the while. Road full of large puddles & small, running rivulets. Both ♀♀ taken between 10:05 & 10:30 pm. A. temps as follow (temp 'ly' in parens) juv - 9.8(9.5) & 9.2(9.2). ♀♀ - 8.6(9.0) & 9.0(9.0) ♂♂ - 9.2(9.2); 9.2(9.2), 8.6(9.0), 9.0(9.0), 9.4(9.2), 9.2(9.2), 9.0(9.2), 8.2(8.6) 8.6(9.0), 8.6(9.0), 8.8(9.2), 9.6(9.6), 9.0(9.0), 8.4(8.6), 9.0(9.2). #5. 4:45-5:15 - walking 5:30-5:50 - 15 Hylla; 1 croceum (juv) 5:55-6:25 - 15 Hylla; 5 croceum (1 juv, 4 ♂♂) 6:30-6:55 - 8 Hylla; 7 croceum; 1 Ensating 9:45-10:30 - 10 Hylla; 6 croceum, 1 Ensating ↓ 2 trips. ↓ 4 ♂♂, 2 ♀♀ all males had tremendously enlarged cloacal regions, elongate tail pin & lead to dull, slick look about them.
