J.D. Anderson 1958 Ambystoma m. croceum Oct 18. 1/2 mi NW Ellcott RR Sta., 4 mi W. Watsonville, Santa Cruz Co. Calif. EP #5 taken under small log near end of broken picket fence, lym's parallel to the downed willow. C. Temp 18.0. Total length 94.0, SV 48.5, Tad 42.0. Marked. RF2, LF 1. EP #7 + EP #8 under large rotted log at E edge of clearing. Both apparently ♂♂ with slightly swollen cloacae. C.Temps 18.0 + 17.8. Temp under log 17.8°C. No measurements #7 - RF2, LF2 - #8 RF2, LF3, 3 more taken in the old tamarisk log at E end of willow area. There had c.l temps as follows. 17.4, 17.2 , 17.2°C., Temp under log 17.4°C. All 3 picked in field. Nov 15 1/2 mi NW Ellcott RR Sta., 4 mi W. Watsonville, Santa Cruz S. Crocium collected in the willow grove. Several are adults - 1 a ♂ with moderately swollen cloaca. 1st taken under narrow willow log. C.Temps 9.0+ among 60% 9.4, Temp under log 9.0. Soil sample taken. Next taken under large rotted log at edge of clearing. C.Temp. 10.0; Temp under 11.5°C. 1 taken in an isolated willow clump, under a rotted R.R. tie. C. temp. 11.2, temp under 11.2. Among 80%. This spot only 20 yds from the barn 2 taken under pickets partially buried in soil near remains of an old fence. C. temps 10.5 + 10.4, Tempo under 10.4 + 10.6°C.
