J.D. Anderson Ambystoma m. croceum funnel traps April 26. Valencia lagoon rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. Set out 12 funnel traps along edge (see Map April 26) of pond where I have been measuring larvae. A grid set up with traps 5 paces apart parallel to shore line and beginning's 5 yds from shore. [illegible] shore Eleothan 10 3 4 5 7 8 9 11 12 set up complete at 1:30 pm. (PST). Checked at 5:30 pm - no salamanders. Checked again at 9:30 pm - 1 A.m. croceum larva in Trap # 9. April 27 Checked traps just after [illegible] sun on pond/ dawn at 6:30 am (PST). - 1 larva in trap # 5. This 52 mm in tot. length. marked - LF leg cut off, a notch put in dorsal tail fin little behind hind hibs. Jarva in trap # 9 had escaped. Made a quick check of traps at 8:30. No salamanders. Trial check & pick up at 1:30. 1 croceum larva in trap # 2.
