G.D. Anderson 1958 Ambystoma m. croceum larvae. March 19 Limi NW Ellicott R.R., Sta, Limi W Watsonville, Santa Cruz Co., Calif Series of 8 collected along W & SW edges of Ellicott Pond. These had total length as follows: 31, 29, 34, 58, 43, 47, 40, 43. (X = 41.25) They were collected between 3 ft + 15 ft of shore in water of 16" - 21" deep. Bottom firm, not muddy in all instances. Elodea growing profusely at all capture sites. Temps at surface of water varied 18.6°C - 20.0°C. Temps at bottom (actual capture) between 16.0°C - 19.0°C. Water relatively clear in all instances. Time 3 pm - 4:15 pm. Sky clear, sunny & warm. April 11 Valencia Sagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif Check made for larvae along SW corner of pond using long handled dip net. Netted 16 in 1½ hours between 11 am + 12:30 pm. Time includes note-taking, temp recording etc. & is not bad time at all. For total length they measured: 29, 21, 26, 28, 20, 32, 21, 26, 29, 36, 31, 26, 26, 27, 36 (430?). N=16 X = 27.60 Range 20-36. April 26. Valencia Sagoon Check made for larval growth - some were sampled as before. 15 taken with dip net & a means of traps. Total lengths (mm) 42, 43, 52, 44, 45 50, 55, 47, 43, 48, 50, 60, 41, 43, 45, 52, 46. N=17 X = 47.41. (Range 41-60)
