J.D. Anderson 1958 Ambystoma macrodactylum croceum Jan 9 Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. 9 ado. collected in a man-made pit in oak woods. This pit - apparently dug only this fall - is next to a new dwelling + is intended for a cess pool. It is 9 ft long x 5 ft wide with straight sided and top 4.5 ft in depth. A perfect pitfall for amphibians. At one end there is a small pool of water extending width of pit + as much as 53" in length (shorted length - 40"). Greatest depth of water 3.5", average about 2 1/2". At opposite end from pool is a slightly raised shelf - 27" in length + extending width of pit (56"). Boechauir
