Aug 29 Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
Left Albany at 7:35 am. Arrived Valencia 9:35 am.
Worked around pond area, which is now completely (dust)
dry, for newly metamorphosed Limnodynastes. Checked in
Tule & Cattail Thickets with no luck at all. Worked
the several willow thickets & got one in the central
thicket. This juvenile was under a broken willow
branch which had one end buried in damp soil. Searched
under bark, logs etc. with no further luck. Left
Valencia at 11:40 am. Ate lunch & then began work at
Ells'cort Pond area (semi.-New Elliscott & Dr. Yunis'
Walswells). The pond here is all but completely
gone now. All that remains is the 3 parallel ditch
like depressions from 3-6
