J.D. Anderson 1958 Journal Aug. 2 Valucia area, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. area of open water - only along the three femoses mentioned in earlier notes, 30 minutes of dip netting produced only 25-30 tadpoles of Hyla regilla. Metamorphosed jive Hyla are everywhere on the Eleocharis stalks. Newly transformed Rana aurora are in greater numbers than I have ever seen. There may yet be some Ambystoma larvae in this pool. Water temp 21.0°C in 4" of depth. Not too hot as yet. Most perplexing question - where are the transformed tigrinum? Better than 30 young Crocean have been taken but so yet not a single tiger salamander. Tigrinum larvae were exceedingly abundant earlier. Quit work about 4:30 pm, left with family + arrived in Albany about 7:30 pm - 1 stop for supper, 1 for gas.
