Anderson 1956 Journal Mar 28 Pinnacles San Benito Co., Calif. There was a jun. Bristlefoot caterpillar D.O.R. Saved the specimen in formalin. Once in movement I drove to the old Pinnacles campsite where I had the entire area to myself. Hydn regilla birds calling all along this stream here. Found several Batrachosaurus attenuatus under rocks but did not collect any. Bird seen w/ several Pinnacles monument. Timber Vultures Possum Mutual Woodpecker. Y-bill Magpie Western Kingbird Black Phoebe Wren-tit Plain titmouse Shrike Calif. Woodpecker One junco. Mourning Dove Horned Owl. Several bats were heard overhead just after dark. 7:35 PM air temp. 44°F. Sky clear, stars burning brightly. Mar 29 Pinnacles to Rio del Mar Santa Cruz Co., Calif. Left old campsite at 7:30 AM. Speedometer 21905.0 Drove north towards Hollister. Saw DOR Barred Owl ½ mi S. Pinnacles near Pancho Pinnacles - There is a flooded field here to west of road. Pond full of Coots, several indigo ducks also. Picked up 101 near Hollister & drove north on 101 to Gilroy. Took road our Hecker pass to Watsonville. From Watsonville drove south on US 1 to a pond Russell & I had spotted last year.
