June 28 Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co, Calif.
lights until about 9:45 . Not total of 8 juveniles.
Then drove back to Valencia for a check but
were unable to connect with Anloystoma here. It
may be that the earlier [illegible] start of breeding
at Ellicott is responsible for this getting
animals there & not at Valencia. However pond
has shrunk proportionally faster at Valencia
than Ellicott & I would expect metamorphosis
here too! But larvae are not to be found
at Ellicott any longer - by methods employed
up to now while they can be taken at
Valencia - but are for a few between. Left
for home at about 10:30 & arrived in Berkeley
at about 12:45 am. Traffic was heavy -
due probably to micrweather & the Miss
California contest at Santa Cruz.
