J.D. Anderson 1958 Journal June 25 Pacific Shore Summit, Bosofl, Alpine G, Calif. meadow Pond. Found [illegible] jelly coats of eggs under many logs. All eggs were hatched but not yet disintegrated. Only 1 had an embryo - dead I thought but it was identified as late tail bud stage. Sweeping with dipnet produced nothing. The larvae are newly hatched & experience has shown that they are exceedingly difficult to catch at this stage. Fairy shrimp very abundant, Notonectids (large) also common. Saw 1 huge predaceous water beetle - possibly predator on Amblystoma. Finished up here & left for home at about 8:15 pm. Arrived in Berkeley about 11:00. Dropped specimens off at MVZ & home by 1:45.
