May 22 - Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
4th check - 10:25 - 11:05 - Bomba Rd.
1 subod Ensatina, 1 ad & Ensatina, #Flo
4 Helminthoglypta, 2 large snails.
Temp '1/4" - 19.4°C; soil 18.0°C.
RH - slim's psychrometer -
This was last check here. Pool grids met.
Cell depressions & holes are full of water
much as they are after first heavy fall
rains. But no Ambystoma. Plethodontids
made some response but apparently motion
short of floods will bring the museum out.
Worked the old wood for 1/2 hour, using both
Coleman lantern & large flashlight. Saw no
salamander. In all above road checks &
wood check - young Hylox were everywhere
under foot.
Drove out to the new tiger locality - 8 1/2 mi.
mile N.W. of Elliott. Checked for transmont's
A. tigrinum but saw none. Water looks
about same as it did on May 18. But
rain may have contributed some to that.
Left for home at 12 midnight - arrived home
1:45 am (PDT.).
