G.D Anderson 1958 Journal. April 26 Valencia Lago, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif Had much more trouble than usual getting sample. Perhaps because I was using smaller dip net. Took 3 hrs. to get 5 trigenium + 4 cucum. The trigenium are really big now. Drove back to Valencia to check traps at 5:30. No salamanders. Checked traps again at 9:30 and got 1 larval A.m.cucum. April 27 Slept in car. Up at 6. Checked traps at 6:30 and found an additional cucum larvae. Worked oak woods looking for adults with no success. Then drove towards Watsonville along both roads hoping to find a new locality or find Taniichu localities. Drew blank on both. Returned to Valencia at 1:30 to check and pick up traps, got complete larvae. Do the traps do work. Left for home about 1:45 - arrived along ca 4:00 pm. May 11 Valencia Lago, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif Left along 7:45 am, arrived Valencia 9:45 am. The pond has not shrunk much in extent but has decreased slightly in depth all over. Vegetation is expanding in pond area. At W end of pond Eleocharis forms almost solid stand in shallow water. Potog is in full leaf + extension. Worked with dip net for 2 1/4 hrs, 10:15 - 12:15 and got only 4 larvae. These taken from some area sampled previously. Worked entire W half of pond and got only these 4. Most trouble I've
