G.D. Anderson 1955 Ambystoma macrodactylum Valencia Jazon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif. Nov. 19. 1 juv. collected on Bonito rd. 9:05 AM. Apparently coming from pond towards oak woods west of pond. Bright sunny day, no clouds. Road slightly moist from fog + dew. This specimen + all taken Nov. 17th were covered with particles of sand as though they had just emerged from burrow. Soil around pond + road edge sandy. Caudice? Ericakia collected were not sandy + may have been active earlier this season. There had not been any rain in the region for several days. Ground + leaf litter were moist but not "dripping wet".
