Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif
part of day. Sky overcast, humidity (this fog.)
temp about 12°C. Walked wood in usual
fashion looking for croceum, made three round
trips to spring & garage. No salamanders.
7pm drove back to la delva area. Checked
in water for adult - no luck. At 7:05 it
began to rain heavily. Decided to try road
driving - for Vanicha over near the Edwards
place. 1 km with no herb. 7:30 pm we
drove back past la delva pond. Got a
large P tigrinum nearby. In next 35 min. we
picked up 2 more live P tigrinum + 1 D O R ?.
My suspicion confirmed at last.
Left for home at 9 pm. Arrived home 11:30pm.

Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif
Left Berkeley at 5:30 pm in heavy rain. Rain
all the way to Santa Cruz. Arrived Rio del Mar at
8pm. Decided to try driving the Elliott Rd
for A. tigrinum during the heavy rain. Made
3 complete trips along length of the road but
found nothing of interest. 9:15 pm took traps
+ net into Elliott pond which is rapidly filling.
Set out 11 traps. Tried to check around for
croceum activity but driving rain made it
difficult to see into water. Saw large P tigrinum
in 6" of water at 10:10. She got away. 10:15 pm saw
+ collected a large ? in 4" of water. Very easily
