Valencia lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
1 ad. ? marked + released 106 yds W. I. G. house. Cl.
temp. 14.0°C. Time 5:45 pm. Slightly cloudy
sky at dusk. Had rained in morning - more
since 10 am. Road wet.

About 1/2 hour later sky cleared, stars +
moon showing. 3 hrs. of road check drew
complete blank.
Dec. 15
Valencia lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
14 ad. marked + 5 taken for study. 9 ♂♂ +
6♀♀. All in fine breeding condition. No rain
since early morning but one slight (10 min) + light
shower at 9 pm + one heavy (10 min) shower at
10 pm. Walked road 4 + 1/4 km. 6 round trips
to spring, 2 to Cedar home + 1 on hill road.
Sky overcast, cloudy, very dark night. Not
much better than Dec. 5. Difference must
lie in sky condition.
Dec. 19
1.5 mi. S. E. La Selva Beach, Santa Cruz Co., Calif.
2 ad. ♂ taken in funnel trap in 4" of water. Trap
set out at 4:30 pm, found A. m. croceum at 9:05
pm. Cl. temp 9.0 for both, water temp. 4" 9.0°C.
Temp air 1/4" above with 6.0°C. Both ♂♂ in
excellent breeding condition + we brought back
for study. Interesting that they are in water
already & I haven't been able to find them
under logs etc.
