F.D. Anderson 1957 Journal Dec. 15 Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co. Stanford campus for Amblystoma tigrinum. Drove around bed of La Sale Laguna but saw no sign of salamanders. Many dead Hylo regilla & several living ones on road. Saw one Trichura torosa on Palo Alto side of campus (away from Laguna). Got home about 2:30 pm. Dec 19. Valencia Lagoon, Rio del Mar, Santa Cruz Co., Calif Left Albany at 11:30 am & arrived in Santa Cruz at 1:30 pm. Stopped just south of city of Santa Cruz along the highway. There is a stream which runs under road, on west side of road it is overflowed. Willows grow here - might be a spot for Amblystoma. Found nothing but this spot should be checked again. Continued on to Valencia. In spite of recent rain there is still only a little water here - same as described earlier. Worked around willows & edge of pond area for an hour then chose to check La Selva Beach area. Slightly more water here. Drove over to see J. Edwards, owner of La Selva area. Got his permission to work pond & a warning about nasty cattle. Mrs. Edwards mentioned seeing aquatic salamanders in spring behind their home. Checked it out - negative. She said she would save them for me if she found any. Went back to La Selva & used dip net in water - no luck. Set out 3 traps - funnel type - set 4:15 pm. Ate supper 4:30-5:15. Returned to
