May 26, 1938 38-195 - Habitat study: side canyon of Cator Canyon thru which runs the road forking to Essey. Dominating bushes are Artemisia Tridentata; several other large types of bushes; a few Joshuas present; Yucca baccata on slope. Just beyond Joshua in center + slightly to left is nest of Gray Vireo + 4 eggs in Artemesia. Just this side of road on left is large dark-green bush containing nest + 5 eggs of Mockingbird. On extreme right of picture on other side of road is nest + 4 eggs of Least Sparrow in Opuntia sp??. Other birds present in pictured area are Ash-throated Flycatcher Scott Oriol (passing thru) and Cost Sumner. Several days ago shot Cottontail behind center Joshua. This A.M. in foreground Rodgers + I found very young rattlesnake swallowing Cerognathus. Emmarpumophiles burrows abundant. Whip-tailed Lizards & Vias present Isopan; f 11-25; Kg filter.
