Citelus teurodon - Some time was unsuccessfully spent trying to shoot some of these a few miles from our morning camp. Howard got shot one with .308 but lost it. I heard several all around me but couldn't see any. Notes were composed of a very high-pitched squeak usually of two syllables. At first I thought they were squeaking bushes in the wind, until I heard it when the wind wasn't blowing. Their mounds & holes are evident (very small). The location of this observation is 3 mi E Linder's. May 24. 6 mi W. Murphy, Owyhee Co. Idaho. Spent most of morning putting up Hugh Buggy - 4 Wood Rat/ & a strike gotten yesterday. Investigate Wood Rat Habitat in litter of rock & found 3 nests within a few feet of each other. One was very large with a hole near the side & the others were very small & flattened. By this morning The total catch of Rats was 7 youngs + two adults. Rest of day spent for hike over a very rocky hill
