but 10 yds. away. Brewer Sparrow - Howard turning called my attention to a nest containing 4 eggs about 1 1/2" high in dense, small Artemisia bush. Nest was of small twigs (outer structure), small dry grass inside. Eggs were almost Robin's egg blue with numerous light brown spots. Photoed nest & waited almost 1 hr for bird to return to be taken on nest. The parents came no closer than 1 1/2 ft. Short notes were frequently uttered May, 22. New Oland to 8 mi S Orana on Buttz Cr., Owyhee Co, Idaho. Left immediately for new camp at A ranch. This area is probably lower season in spots / at least with Atibley and West. Ringbuds as indicators. The area is very dry with the bushes evenly spaced & frequent open places containing small white alkaline barrens. Numerous Jack Rabbit's trails are present between this type of cover. Surrounding us were many sins & falls in the terrain with frequent gravelly washes & greatly eroded flat-topped buttes projecting almost vertically out of the level land below.
