Hammond Flycatcher - At a distance
of 10 yds + under good light with
binoculars I could see that the
secondaries were about 5" to 6" shorter
than the primaries when the wing
was closed. Notes that all of them
are giving here are in 2 syllables
to-verse + tweeep.) The first being
slightly slurred up & the last on
the same pitch as the start of
the first.
Swinson Hawk - A couple days
ago we met two egg collectors
that obtained 2 eggs of this
sps. atop a pine down the canyon
away. Today I had an excellent
view of one atop a dead fir (I
was 10 yds from the base) With
binoculars nearly every feather
could be made out. It was in
light phase with a deep yellowish
wash of buff across breast. After
watching it for a couple minutes
it took off & soared in small
circles.
Junco (Sp?) - larger than ouzonas
get sings same. Some description as
one at Salmon Cr.
June 9.
