J.R.Alcorn 1942 Catalog 3 mi. ESE Eastgate, Churchill Co., Nevada. 7:50 PM May 14, 1942. 95% Overcast. 3663 ♀ Sage Grouse wt. 2 lbs. 7 ozs. Total, 20 in.; Tail, 7 1/2 in.; Wing Spread, 34 inches. Breast had many pin-feathers 7 to 8 mm long. No large feathers on breast area of 5 1/2 in. long and 3 1/2 inches wide. Ova 16 mm long. Numerous ovum about 1 mm diameter. Shot from flock of eleven (♀'s?) that flew across road and alighted by Artemisia. 3664 ♀ Sage Grouse wt. 2 lbs. 5 ozs. Total, 20 3/4 in.; Tail, 7 in.; Wing Spread, 32 inches. Breast (brood patch area) had no visible feathers on area 5 inches long and 3 3/4 inches wide. Ova 18 mm long. Numerous ovum about 1 mm diameter. Shot from flock of eleven (♀'s ?) that flew across road and alighted in growth of Artemisia. Crop and Stomach contents only 3663-3664. Hunters Creek, 7000 ft., Washoe Co., Nevada.
