(1) July 8. Today I acted as room orderly again so didn't get out on patrol range. They gave me orders because I had to fire later anyway and no one could clean the range desk. The job is however easy. Washed clothing today and cleaned up for a coming inspection. July Went out for a while this evening into a new section of woods across the prairie - meadows the camp is in. The woods were very much the same as older - possibly extra tall timber! There was a great abundance of hard berries. The berries were large - ripe and numerous and I ate until I had enough and left enough berries for a company. There were a great many noisy groups about but apparently no birds.
