the 37 yrd range making fair targets. July 1 Still hot. I don't believe the temperature is at all high but the air seems damp. Also it seems hot in contrast with the previous cold weather, sleep with pajamas, sheet and 1 briny blanket even now. Made a "possible" on the range today, 15 hits out of 15 fired. Saw several rabbit on the way to target range. I have killed gray squirrel, Posas, squirrel and chipmunk in them. I learned Sunday that the Grouse I saw with the young was an Oregon Ruffed Grouse. He says that its rufous color I noted on the rock was typical Ruffled especially the Oregon bird. Also the ruffle about the neck were characteristic. The Sooty grouse would not have come at me in the way this bird did.
