the 37 yrd range
making fair targets.
July 1 Still hot. I don't
believe the temperature
is at all high but the
air seems damp. Also
it seems hot in contrast
with the previous cold
weather, sleep with
pajamas, sheet and
1 briny blanket even
now. Made a "possible"
on the range today, 15
hits out of 15 fired. Saw
several rabbit on the
way to target range.
I have killed gray
squirrel, Posas, squirrel
and chipmunk in them.
I learned Sunday
that the Grouse I saw
with the young was an
Oregon Ruffed Grouse. He
says that its rufous
color I noted on the rock
was typical Ruffled
especially the Oregon
bird. Also the ruffle about
the neck were characteristic.
The Sooty grouse would
not have come at me in
the way this bird did.
