"Second" Lake Merrit. The birds are common there and have good shelter so I see no reason why something good can not be made of the place. We hunted the willows, along the edge. First thing off the bat I discovered a nest stuck in the top of the foot fir with a cedar martin sitting upon it! - Bird rich. I was mighty glad to find it as I have always wanted to see these birds at home and to know their nest and eggs. The nest contained six or seven eags. -(for further description See data). the birds quite surprisingly never showed up after (the female) was flushed. Why they should be so tame while feeding and so wild around their nest I don't know. They simply act as if they didn't care what happened around the nest.
