While out in the woods
today on a reconnoitering
party I saw three turkey
cultures. Later on while
marching in leading a
patrol I spied off from
back of the nest. I
stopped long enough to
see their speck eggs and
traged to pass by. This
afternoon I returned and
after a long search found
the nest. The bird flushed
at a long distance and
so I went off to let
her come back. She did
not return so I repeatedly
searched the ground and
finally found it. It is only
a depression near a bushy
weed, made of dead ashes
like surrounding ground. Two
speck eggs - my supposedly -
anyways I left them. The
bird flushed by running
both times. However she gave
the quest away by crawling
and creeping about 20ft
from me. Also found a
Bluebird nest in a box
back of a firebox with
several eggs. I hope to collect
the set late this evening.
