(3) Chiff Swallows around thrift Barrels and trees Swallows flying about and Western Bluejays can be heard singing in the woods. (Jan.19) I have been interested in watching the juncos, Sparks here. They have a queer habit of playing ground the bodies like finnets, Sometimes I see them around th[e] eves and think - there are some finnets but the turn out to be Sparks. The sparrows sing from telephone poles houses, ground and Sky. They flee very tame and I can easily see that they are much darker than our Southern Calif birds, their tail looks almost black. As big as our feet at Drill I flushed one pair while in scirnish line that I am sure had a nest. I returned after hours but could not again flush them. I have seen several pairs populating Many birds are still nesting and!
