Butz June 18th Went thru the regular routine of work but got some time off to go thru the woods. Went into wilder country today. It is all a regular timberfoot. Brake ferns, Dogwood, Thimble- berries, blackberries and wild strawberries. Saw and heard several new birds. First I heard the chickadees, which sounds rather different here--more like a western quastedeen with Chick-a-dee. Next a Troill Flycatcher with typical note. Near the roots tanles saw a Bewick Wren which sang much after the fashion of the Sandegran birds. Ratu scared out a pair of (Pigeons?) They clopped their wings like pigeons but did not look quite right--they were very light color, but both alike and I latter think were not domestic at all. Actually heard the call of a Quail of the
