Ousail from a pallet of brush. It was growing dark and I could not see well so was not sure of the bird. However I guessed brown long and then left. I shall return as soon as possible. Among other things I heard a Oregon Sparrow which I believe was Gambeli. The song was typical of our winter birds in P.A. and very much unlike the breeding White-Crowned of the Sierras. Also heard Killdeer, some warbler purple finches, Siskens Violet Green Swallows.
Thus with some twenty species in sight within two or three hours as tho things be interesting. Late the Pacific night-hawks came out and began booming.
June 17. Went thru with camp routine, took physical exam. Sew clothing and got back to barracks by noon. The rain then came on and so the rest of tomorrow and evening will probably be uneventful.
