Genus Asio Asio wilsonii Date March 18, 1923 Setm. 2/3 Coll No. 366 Local Placita Canon L.B.Day. Nest varying red to slight Call by Colby Miller Rim fin oak tree on north but exp of canon in Groove of trees. Nest 30 ft up large similar to Cooper Hawk. A very well built nest for Sparrow. Almost entirely built by the bird. Lined with pipe twigs dark leaves and a few feathers. Male bird near by. Female did not flush until I up tree. Birds made out little fuss giving only a few low notes. Birds seen in this locality Feb 18. n. Asio vespertinus Date March 18, 1923 Setm 2/3 Coll No. 366 Local Placita Canon L.B.Day. Loc fresh Colby Miller Nest in side canon south Rim. Exposure A built over rats nest 18 ft up. Bird flushed only when rock hit nest. Made no fuss.
