for camp Lewis. The road was well paved and wandered thru the rolling spine guard hills. The general farm seemed like the floor of Goshen or of Yonahia but course had no high mountains close surrounding. The camp itself is in quite wild country although it is really a city. Many other units are encamped here. The R.D.C. Camp is in a large meadow among the woods. I was assigned to the lowtzen Co. on the West side of the meadow. After attending to camp duty, I roamed after supper to enjoy the long northern twilight. The meadows larks and lunecos were singing in the meadow and around the barrocks. In the log percolator of the Adjutant's building was a bluebirds nest - I suppose Western. The light was not strong enough to distinguish the bird absolutely but I heard a great
