natives blowing eggs and spotting fires. The collected 57 species of Alaska birds, 27 of which were shore birds. Red-backed Sandpipers, Tac. Gold Flower (Drible?), sandpipers were some of the common takes. On 10 day he collected some 200 eggs and blew them. Also we found five new nests, previously unknown to science. He showed us his notebook with list of species and set marks. Needless to say the afternoon was interesting. He was much pleased with Bowles collection. July 29 Got ready leave, and at noon took the boat for Seattle, leaving many good memories and several good friends. As we left Seattle on the big boat I could not help but feel the grandeur of the country. The deep Sound rumpling.
