Transcription
Bird sat tight until within 2 ft then flew to nearby bush. This pair huffy around and showed considerable solicitude. Nest poorer than 1 W/4, made of sticks, straw- etc well puffed but poorly lined nest rather small. Another nest and pair of bird was located near by in similar location but no eggs were present at this date. (Coll. by: Alden N. Willoughby) Noted that while on the nest the bird held the crest down so that it was not at all apparent. 10 11. California Creeper Date July 20 1924 Inc.b. Commenced - Added Locat. Spanaway, Tacoma WA Set. Mark W/10 A/4 Nest. In a black oak underneath a large piece of heavy bark an inch thick. Nest protruded from the crack only slight. Back in fir wood.
