1980 R.L. Mumme Melanerpes formicivorus Upper Arnold 2 (and vicinity) 10 sept action is 75 yards NE, I estimate at least 8 birds involved in this revolution. Back at 11 after exploring. Still action, pretty good pace. I think there are 4 birds (208?, 29?) looking chummy, and I think the ? are doing the chasing. Lots of spillover action in the old A3 arena. J566 Black/or-Blt from A1 here, looking like ?, perhaps. 11 sept At 0830, still lots of walking, but not as much action at yesterdays. 4 NB birds (both sexes) seen to be hanging around the A3 canyon, a ? ra ? seen very much attached to the old A3 Blue Oak sap tree.
