1980 R.C. Mumme 7 Melanerpes formicivorus Road 3 (3 June) ♂'184 approached; both times ♂'184 flew in from outside the nest area, landing about 2-4 meters away from ♂'68. Rather peculiar. Checked the nest at 1030 & 1830. Still 2 eggs. They did not lay today, and they look like they are incubating (4 June) Start 0745 #2&65 alone, in nest. 0903, ♂'65 flies in chattering, while somebody (♂'184?) in nest ♂'68 landed top of nest tree, chattered. Back at 1400 to check the nest, another fresh egg [marked #4], laid this morning, I presume.
