1980 Ronald L. Munme 64 Melaerpes formicivorus Road 1 Hastings Reservation (14 April) 20 meters or so from ♀269, and certainly never out of sight. Although I couldn't account for ♀269 at the critical moment, I suspect she was in the [illegible] sycamore near ♂486. ⑤ The mystery bird flew to one of ♀383 favorite perches. ⑥ The mystery bird entered the nest quickly, without hesitation, as ♀383 has done. ♀269 tends to pause. ⑦ ♀269 was in the nest 3 or 4 minutes prior to the mystery bird. ⑧ Who- I later resighted ♀383 has some suspicious looking yellow stuff on her bill, then later I noticed liquid glistening off it. Suspicious, I admit, but it could have been something else (Eating eggs?) In summary, I would guess that it was ♀383, although I can't entirely eliminate ♀269. ♂294 seems unlikely. * 0835 ♀383 enters nest leaves 0840 (?). ♀269 perhaps a gentle peck to ♀383, but not sure. The other pair (♀383 + ♂294) did not seem to be
