1980 R.L. Mumme 30 Melanerpes formicivorus Plaque 21 Sept Been putting off note-writing here for quite awhile Watching here very casually I find that J606 is in solid ♀ plumage! good for it. I also see ♀496 and another ♀, (almost certainly ♀494). I've shamefully not written it up, but Coopers Hawks have been incredibly common around Plaque all summer, no doubt the juveniles (who were begging earlier, in Aug) and the adults from Watertank Hill are involved. Miraculously, they haven't nailed the Plaque woodpeckers yet. 11 Nov Watching here briefly at 1020, complete census, as everybody (or nearly everybody) chasing a crow out the live oaks by the bunkhouse. Only ♀♀494+60♂ ad ♂521 seemed to be heavily involved. Anyway ♀606 BPK-wnt/wnt-Bpink ♀496 mauve ♀494 white-Red/m, ♂521 B/K-yellow/Or ♂473 Green/wht all seen. Lcm/m 21 Dec Quick watch here at 1000, everybody see, ♂473 " /wnt, ♂521 B/K-yellow/or ♀496 Mauve/Green ♀494 Red-wnt/Red " " Bpink-wht/m and ♀606 BPK-wnt/white-Bpink
