1980 R.C. MURME
Melanerpes formicivorus
Plaque I
(10 May) Nancy's now watching nest, I'm watching group.
So far I've yet to see ♂473 and ♀494 apart
1630, two more nice cases of following of ♀494 by ♂473.
⊂521 is definitely the one on all roost hole
defenses. 4 cases now of defending nest hole from
Blue birds . He also defends the granary, and stays
in the granary much more than the other birds
→ 1845, back at hole, relieving Sandy . Saw 2
more defenses of the hole by ⊂521, but not much else
1849 ⊂521 looks in, chases Nuttalls woodpecker
* Memo -- see Nancy's notes for an interesting dominance
interaction between ♀♀ at nest.
1900 -- checked hesh, 1 egg still OA
190r--⊂521 looks in
1913 -- yet another Bluebird defense by ⊂521
* 1918 - - ♀ Metal/Doren-B (N)
whit/ ' ' (R) Intruding:
→ Pecked at by ⊂521, although not violently.
* It's ♀522 Back Home! How about That!
I wonder what ♂473 and the 2 RQ will say
about that
1942 -- ⊂521 chases Bluebirds. He looks in
Roosting I believe I saw white or metal, and it
was certainly not ⊂473, who I saw outside the hole
later. Therefore, probably ♀494 roosted alone
in the nest
11 May Bird that roosted leaves at 0547 (0447).
check nest, still one marked egg!
