1980 R.L. Mumme 8 Melanerpes formicivorus Plague 26 April Start watch 1245. Nothing! 29 April Start 1010. All 4 here, looks like the SOS. ♂➡⃣521 chased ♀➡⃣496 as she attempted to fly to the nest tree. She is still reduced to wakus, harrits, and garriets from the upper barn area, sycamores, and Big Blue Oak. Not much in the way of nest signs, but I'll check anyway. 11/0, ♀➡⃣496 in nest tree alone, not chased! (Nobody else around) ♂➡⃣473 joins her, friendly wakus she tail raises. A few moments later, I see a mounting between ♀➡⃣496 and a bird that I'm certain was ♂➡⃣473. Later, however ♂➡⃣521 chased ♀➡⃣496 from the nest tree. 1145. A NB♀ here, chased briefly (but not out of the nest tree) by ♀➡⃣496. Then ♀➡⃣494 on the scene, both ♀♀ chase NB out. ♂➡⃣521 showed a very low-key response to this new ♀. End noon going to look for holes on adobe hill 1 May Again at 1400. What's he up to? 4 may Start-watch 0800. RS Hawk, ♀➡⃣496 Alarm calls.. 0843, another nifty copulation! Good cloacal contact, tail twist, 4 sec. duration, in Plague tree between ♀➡⃣496 and ♂➡⃣473! Good news for ♀➡⃣496 is that ♂➡⃣521 seems much more tolerant of her. Only one very mild supplant so far, though he has had numerous opportunities to chase her. 0900, a♂ intruder here white-whild (?) probably ♂➡⃣511 from Low Hay! ** 0915, ♀➡⃣494 was definitely getting mildly chased, and I
