1980 R.L. Murme 7 Melanerpes formicivorus Plaque Hastings Reservation (17 April) toward Adobe Hill. Not a really good situation. What's worse, ♂521 chased ♀496, and it looked for sure that ♀494 joined in the pursuit, in fact taking the lead. The two♀♀seemed peaceful together in the sycamore at one point, and ♂521 + ♀496 looked "cool" in the Big Blue Oak. 0740, Have not yet seen ♂476, 0745. Another supplant by ♀494 [illegible] of ♀496. End 0750 Back again at 1240. ♀496 gets chased by ♀494. a bad sign! ♀476 garrickrs from Big Blue Adobe Hill. 1310 ♂521 + ♀476 in Cabin Blue oak, he doesn't chase her. 1330, ♂ Intruder unt-or/metal ? chased by ♂473. Probably ♂511 from Low Hay, white yellow/metal. Makes sense he'd be wandering, though Cooper's Hawk at 1340! again at 1415, and this time, ♂473 gives alarm call !! Ground squirrel in granary, chased by ♂521, ♀494. End 1430 22 April Start watch [illegible] after ignoring these guys far too long. 1210. a short watch, rain returns, but it looks like the situation is pretty much the same as 17 April. A♀was giving occasional garricks and harris in the Big Blue Oak, while 3 other birds were fooling around in the Cabin Blue Oak and the non-Plaque Valley Oak. 24 April Start 0715. ♀496 still on the shit list, garrickring in Griffin sycamores ♀494 flew over, sort of probed * pecked at her (♂494 probes ♀49♀). She stills seems to be chased from main granary area, though, but only by ♂521. 0735, Another Cooper's Hawk, more alarm calls by ♂473.
