On the way down, [illegible] finally stop to go down ad see the Ponderosa Pine, at its 3 or 4 saplings nearby. At the bottom of the ridge near Finch Creek, we stumble into a huge bivouac of Ladybeetles 18 Dec Surveyed S Hill for HTs, with poor results (seen HT notes) 19 Dec Watched for thrushes along Big Creek, watched woodpeckers at 1500. 20 Dec Watched with fair success at Lower Haystack in the Am, fooled around with the grant in the p.m., met Mary Peacock and her boyfriend in the afternoon. Christmas party at the Griffins, and I get Gahan Wilson cartoon book. H 21 Dec Watched a bit at Plaque, doodled with the Grant, dinner at Red House after successfully lading one more thrush. Also a visit to the Davis'. Light rain. 22 Dec Foggy, misty in the morning. I clean house, etc. Trip into town in the afternoon. Call Mom + Bob, Aunt Lottie, 23 Dec Watch at S Hill, look some more for Hermit Thrushes, that's all late morning- 24 Dec Ran the Hermit Thrush nets in the afternoon, Christmas eve visit to the Hardy's, Open presents from Mom + Bob 25 Dec Christmas, ran nets in the morning, a nice Gloria walk up Red Hill with Pam, Walter, & Dan Tate, a super 6 Christmas dinner at Red House. 26 Dec Trip to Big Sur with Pam, Walter, Dan Tate. Pfeiffer State Park, Sycamore camp on beach, Old Coast Road, "Green Flash" etc.
